This is a fine and superbly hand crafted 1:8 large scale model of the Alfa Romeo 158 'Alfetta' Grand Prix car. This particular Alfa Romeo 158, #2, is the car from 1950 driven by Nino Farina.
The Alfa Romeo 158/159, also known as the Alfetta (Little Alfa in Italian)it is one of the most successful racing cars ever produced. The 158 and its derivative, the 159, took an incredible 47 wins from 54 Grands Prix entered. It was originally developed for the pre-World War II formula (1937) and has a 1.5 litre straight-8 supercharged engine. Following World War II, the car was eligible for the new Formula One introduced in 1947. In the hands of drivers such as Nino Farina, Juan-Manuel Fangio and Luigi Fagioli, it dominated the first two seasons of the World Championship of Drivers.
Glen has been featured in the Telegraph newspaper on Saturday 30/10/21 in a full page article about Glen English and his fabulous models (see last three photos).
Entirely hand built by Glen Engish in England. With limited edition of only 50 worldwide, this is an extremely rare, beautifully handbuilt model. The model is lightly weathered to look as it would have at the end of the race. (The pictures after the black and which photos show the weathering)
This is a truly stunning model and a work of art in its own right, measuring over 2 feet in length including the case. A wonderful and very rare addition to any model/automobilia collection or as a stand alone centre piece.
