#10 Fangio 1955 British Grand Prix – SOLD

This is a fabulous 1:8 large scale model by the high end model makers Amalgam of the Mercedes W196 Monoposto as raced by Juan Manuel Fangio at the British Grand Prix in 1955 run for the first time at Aintree.

This is a very rare version of the W196 with Fangio's #10 livery. Fangio finished second to Moss in the race by less than a second. It is said that Fangio let Moss win as it was his home grand prix but Fangio never admitted it.
The W196 was totally dominant in the race taking the first four places.

The model is an exact 1:8 scale replica of the car and as you would expect from Amalgam is absolutely stunning in every detail.
The engine cover lifts off to reveal in stunning detail the 8 cylinder engine and the cockpit is beautifully crafted.

The model sits on a black stand with plaques detailing the model and the limited edition number 32/196 (still with celaphane covers on) and is covered by a peliglass case. It also comes with all the original packaging and the Certificate of Authenticity from Amalgam. and is in new condition.

A 1:8 scale model of the W196 that Bohnams sold at the Festival of Speed in 2013 for £19m.

THIS MODEL WILL BE AVAILABLE TO BUY AT THE BONHAMS MERCEDES SALE IN STUTTGART, GERMANY ON THE 19th MARCH 2016. Please click on the link below for further details and guide price.
